champagne made me do this!

It is one of these days I'll never forget!

After working 9 hours non-stop, my hostparents, my hostmums parents, who just arrived this day, the kids and I went into the wirlpool, they call it spa here.
It started with one bottle of delicious french champagne. After the fourth glass everybody became a bit loosey-goosey.
Fairly quickly all the boys had enough of all the giggeling, chattering and gossiping, so that just us three girls were left in the amazing warm and heated spa.
Pop - the second bottle was uncaped. The kids were somewhere upstairs, probably playing computer, the husbands started preparing the barbie, we didn't really care.
We lost ourselfes in old stories about bygone days and amours and wordly wisdoms.
I enjoyed to just sit there, feel the bubbles running along my shoulders and listen to them.
After every story my hostmum said 'give me your glass, it will be fine', so that in next to no time we got to the 3rd bottle. Pop!
My fingers were wrinkled. The sun was going down and the sky turned orange.
'Ladies, dinner is ready!' called my hostdad. We were looking at each other, wondering what time it was. By the time we got in, it was 8 o'clock. We sat in the spa for four hours. Unbelievable.
In these 5 months I have been in this amazing family, we never ever had dinner that late!
After dinner, everybody did their own thing, my hostmum and her mum put the children to bed and the boys and I tidied up.
Afer we were done, I briefly checked my mails and felt the need to buy something.
This is why I am going to the Snoop Dog and Mac Miller concert on Sat 25 January 2014!

Champagne made me do this!

But after a good 10 hour sleep I still don't regret it, so cheers!

rainy days

Saturday and Sunday were rainy days. So what to do on these shit days?
Of course: (in my case) museum!

Whoever is reading my blog and living in Sydney I can really entrust you to see the ‚Yoko Ono: War is over! (if you want it)‘ exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Arts.
Her art is impressive and also thought-provoking.

‚Play it by trust‘ was one of my favourite installations. The chessboard and the chess pieces are all white. ,Once the game commences and the pieces intermingle, it becomes difficult to know who controls which piece.‘ ‚Ideally, Ono has said, this leads to a shared understanding of […] mutual concerns and a new relationship based on emphathy rather then opposition. Peace is then attained on a small scale.‘ (War Is Over! (if you want it) Yoko Ono 15 Nov 2013 – 23 Feb 2014 flyer). It took my friend leon and I not longer then 5 minutes to get confused haha

On Sunday my friend Kira and I went to the Museum of Sydney. Its about the history of sydney, like the first fleet ships and aborigines. Not really my cup of tea, but a must do I’d say.

The coming weekend two swedish friends of mine and I are going to a stripclub. I’m soo excited!

Keep you posted,

sydney or the bush

..that's what Sydneysiders use to say.
Sydney is such an inspiring city. I love the people and culture here. I never want to leave.

Standing in the entry of a small italian pizza restaurant, freezing and shivering, that's where you would have found me on friday night.

Earlier that day my friend and I went to 'the village bizzare' in Sydney, the Rocks, which is by the way an  historic area of Sydney's city centre, because it became established shortly after the colony's formation in 1788.

We had great fun. We wore our bird masks, which we got at the information booth and one needed to entry the 'sky bar', didn't care about all the people staring at us, were tempted to que to let the fortune teller read our fortune, but then decided to take things as they come and took a smell at the delicious crepes, wrap and other food stalls.
As we were standing at the silent disco stall and were about to put the headphones on to dance the night away, it started to rain. Unfortunately the 'small rain' turned out to be a huge storm.
We ran (of course we had no umbrella with us), looking for a sheltered spot, and ended up at the small italian pizza restaurant.

This spot was almost better than the whole market!
Two about 50-year-old men felt sorry for us and offered their food because 'we looked as if we could use something to eat'. I saw this yummy turkish spinach-bun at the stall before, but didn't buy it, so I took the chance and have to say that this turkish delicacy tasted even better then the kebab I used to buy around the corner in germany and miss so much.
After they and my friend (she took an earlier bus) left, I had a chat with an about 40-year-old grey-haired short guy from England. He was on a business trip and told me a little bit about his life.
I listened to his stories and enjoyed the moment.

I ended up standing in this spot for over an hour, even so I was for sure the happiest person in the world.

newtown festival

On Sunday my best friend and I went to the 35th Newtown Festival in Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in, who'd have thought, Newtown.

We got off the bus and followed the crowd into a small side street.
Some guys were playing on their saxophones, drums and trumpets. I got goose bumps, just by listening to these awesome guys.
The mixture of the classic instruments and pop music like 'I need a dollar' from Aloe Blacc' (http://instagram.com/p/gkBT3qvuXE/) made me smile.

The festival was amazing!
We did some wine testing (moscato white wine, i love you), listened to the newcomer bands, I got my very first henna tattoo and of course we walked around to have a look at all the beautiful stalls. (due to my east coast trip in january I didn't buy anything, which is unlike me haha)

Afterwards we went to an art gallery. My most favourite hobby. As Stella Adler said: Life beats down and crushes the soul and art reminds you that you have one.

I ended the day with a moscato white wine (what else?) and a delicious apple-walnut-salad in one of these restaurants at darling harbour. As you can see, the weather wasn't that good, but the view still amazing.

Cheers,
