hey guys,
didn't post for a while because I went on my second big trip: to the east coast of australia.
my first destination was cairns. I booked a night at gilligans hostel, because I arrived one day before my tour started. It's such a fun hostel!
here's the story:
leaving the elevator and searching for my room 328 I felt kind of lost and I must have looked lost as well because not even 10 seconds after I left the lift a guy came up to me, asking if he should help me finding my room. Yeah, why not, I said.
Unforunately I didn't recognize that he was already wasted! So after I found my room I had to deal with funny questions like 'are you gonna kiss me?' or 'do you wanna have a good time with me in your room?'. Seriously mate? What a greeting!
anyway, I got rid of him quickly and went to gilligans club with my roommates, where I had an amazing night, partying, dancing and drinking!

field day festival
'Shit Laura, I think they won't let you in! On the ticket it says 'please bring a valid ID as in a passport or an australian drivers licence''.
'You are kidding?', I say, 'I just paid 140$ for this ticket and now that I just brought my german ID, they won't let me in?'
I'm looking around. A little bit shocked I have to admit.
I am sitting on the balcony in one of my friends flats. We met so that we can have predrinks before we head out to the festival.
My friend lives in chippendale, a really nice and fancy suburb of Sydney.
To solve my problem we come up with all sorts of crazy ideas. The final story I will tell the bouncer, when he doesn't want to let me in, is that I will go back to Germany the day after the festival and didn't bring my passport so that I don't loose it or something like that.
Lucy, the girl who is sitting on my left, sipping on her malibu drink, says it will be alright so everyone has one last check in the mirror and then we hop in the cap which drives us dirctly to the event.
And guess what guys?
Lucy was right! They didn't have a closer look on my ID. All the stress for nothing. Anyway.
Hell yeah, I'm in bitches!
It's amazing!
I don't know if it's because we're in Sydney or it's the fact that we're on a festival, but I have never ever seen so many beautiful people in one place.
All the tanned, skinny, good looking girls with their head chains, hand bracelets, stick on jewellery and flower crowns just look so stunning.
Most of the boys have tattoos, wearing snapbacks and stüssy shirts. It's like heaven!
We go straight to the 'Island' stage, because Taku is playing. He is an australian artist who mostly plays electronic and hip hop. It's just 3 o' clock and quite empty.
The guy dancing right next to me whose nose is covered in white powder is creepy. Jeez man, have you never heard of the word 'blink' before?
Anyway, we dance, I guess you would call it, the day away until his set ends.
The next artists are A$AP Rocky and Wiz Khalifa. Everyone is going crazy as Wiz comes up on stage. This stoned mophucker is a legend and one of my most favourite artists.
Sitting on this guys' shoulders and singing to 'Young, Wild and Free' makes me the happiest girl in the world.
This festival definitely made my day and was the best way to start into 2014!

christmas
Christmastime in Sydney isn't comparable to christmastime in Frankfurt.
It's so different, but at the same time so much better.
You wake up in the morning, hear all the birds tweeting, the sun is coming through your shutter and instead of going iceskating you go swimming at the beach on the weekend.
Of course it's not the same without hot chocolate, snow, parkas and furgloves, christmas markets and real christmastrees, but for some reason I fell in love with australian christmas.
Isn't decorating the christmastree with the whole family while listening to 'Jingle Bells', baking tons of cookies with the kids and grandma , watching a movie on christmas eve, having christmaslunch with the whole family and unwrapping all the presents what christmas is about?
With this in mind I wish all of you a delayed Merry Christmas and a wonderful time with your family!
Hugs and kisses

halftime
Exactly this tuesday half a year ago I arrived in australia.
These 6 months have been so overwhelming. I met a lot of people from all around the world.
Canada, France, Brazil, Italy, Spain, America, Ireland, Japan, Netherlands and I could go on and on.
At this point I must say thank you, thank you to all those people who made my journey an incomparable and incredible experience.
It is sad that some of you who became real good friends of mine already left australia, but I'm sure we'll all meet again. somewhere. sometime.
In addition I'm so glad that I got the chance to see all these beautiful and unique places, beaches, suburbs of Sydney and other cities, but what I'm more excited about are all the other places of australia I haven't explored yet.
Cape Tribulation. Daintree Rainforest. Cairns. Great Barrier Reef. Whitsundays. Whiteheaven. Noose. Brisbane. Canberra. Tasmania. Jervis Bay and all the other places.
Sometimes I have to pinch myself to realize that I'm living my dream. My dream of exploring the world. Everyday is different. Nothing is the same. It's too brilliant for words.
Sydney you have been good to me and I'm curious about what will come.
Kisses to all my friends around the world and of course to my family as well!
